INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY:

In olden days, gender discrimination was the major problem. Women's were restricted to home and household works. Elder People at home believed that education was not for girls. Another best example for this was "Practice of SATI". Many great personalities and revolutionaries struggled to improve women's life. Because of this, women's are socially, economically, politically strong now.
I think we need to celebrate this day by praising the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Let's see very few.
INDIRA GANDHI:
Indira Gandhi is the only female prime minister (1966-1977) of India till date. She was the only child of Jawaharlal Nehru. As a woman her capacity as a leader is appreciated. As a prime minister of India, Gandhi was known for her political ruthlessness and unprecedented centralization of power. She went to war with Pakistan in support of the independence movement.
She also played a major role in the creation of Bangladesh by having Indian victory in the war with East Pakistan. She was assassinated in 1824 by her Sikh bodyguards. She is a superwoman, don't you think so??
KIRAN BEDI (ips)
Kiran bedi is an Indian politician, social activist, former tennis player and a retired police officer. She was India's first women police officer. She struggles a lot to prevent crime and initiated many criminal reforms. She concerned more about traffic regulation and enforcement which is the big problem till date. She earned the nickname "crane bedi". She is the recipient of Raman Magsaysay award in government service and police medal for gallantry.
SMITHA SABARWAL (ias)
She is an IAS officer of 2001 batch. She is currently working as an additional secretary of CMO in telangana. She is a dynamic officer. She made her footprints in the places where she worked till date. Her contribution towards health is significant. A popular initiative is "AMMALALANA", for 'high risk pregnancy management targeting, IMR and MMR'. When she was working as a DC of Karimnagar district (telangana), smitha's work made that district to won PM's 20 point program for 2012-2013. She always uses latest technology advancement in her administration. That is her strength.
Opportunities should be given to women. Once opportunities are given, they will show their capacity and bring changes in society. Can't u agree??
